"Until we are all free, we are none of us free." Emma Lazarus

The links below connect to brief online biographies of  six notable immigrant women. There is an order, and I suggest that their stories be read from left to right: Emma and Annie together, as they were distant cousins; Rose and Lillian together, as they met in the Henry Street Settlement House; Emma Goldman and Rose Schneiderman together as both were outspoken political activists. A booklist and bibliography are also attached for further research at your library.

Emma Lazarus (1849-1887)                 Annie Nathan Meyer (1867-1951)
